Ode to Iasi

Journal Entry: Tue Nov 10, 2009, 5:38 AM

As the title says, I want to dedicate this journal to my city, Iasi!! It`s meant to be an informal invitation for all of you to come and see it and pay me a visit as well!!!!
a couple of things about my city:
1. It has more than 600 years of history
2. It is called “The city on seven hills", just like Rome :p
3. It has a rich cultural history (the oldest theatre and university in the country are here)
4. It has a huuuuuge Botanical Garden (the largest in Romania)
5. it has the most number of churches in the country (almost 100)
6. it has a building designed by Gustave Eiffel, yes, THE Eiffel (the one who designed the Eiffel Tower in Paris)
and the list could go on....

So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell,
blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?
And did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?
(Pink Floyd - Wish you were here)

What defines us? The choices we make? Or our refusals? Sometimes it seems so hard to define the borders, because there are no clear cut lines...

Enjoy these wonderful photos that I admire mostly for the intelligence of the concept

Love supreme

Journal Entry: Sun Sep 20, 2009, 11:31 AM

Yeah turn down the love songs that you hear
'Cause you can't avoid the sentiment
That echoes in your ear
Saying love will stop the pain
Saying love will kill the fear
Do you believe
You must believe
When there's no love in town
This new century keeps bringing you down
All the places you have been
Trying to find a love supreme
A love supreme

Yes, I guess we are all searching for love supreme..but does it really exist? isn`t it just a utopia?? Or a sort of hallucination? This endless search for happiness, for togetherness isn`t it a curse after all?...some claim to have found love supreme, but isn`t this just a trick pulled by our senses, by our senses, not by our deeper being that we believe leads us to love...
Does love supreme imply compromises?? does it last forever and ever and ever??
Right now, in my rather skeptic state of mind, I tend to agree with Oscar Wilde who beleived that "When one is in love, one always begins by deceiving oneself, and one always ends by deceiving others."
Have a wonderful week and good luck in your love supreme quest :)

Now some beautiful pictures to brighten your day
